It’s been too long since I posted an update – whilst having
a job is fantastic, it doesn’t leave me much time to update a blog. What little
free time I have now goes on painting figures – Pendraken 1866 and I was
seduced into “investing” in the Baker Company Winter War Kickstarter so have a
mountain of Finns and Russians to paint and winter scenery to construct.
The good news is that I’m not sculpting the figures, they
are being done by the incredibly talented Ebob - so my lack of free time hasn’t affected the
process to much (apart from reducing the amount of times I can nag the sculptor
for updates – for which I’m sure Ebob is incredibly grateful!)
So what’s the progress so far?
As you can see from the photo the four initial puppets have
been sculpted and will be going off to Griffin at the end of January to be cast
up. The casts will be used to create different poses to give variety –
marching, firing, skirmishing etc.
What’s next?
To complete the line infantry I obviously need some command
figures! These will be sculpted before I release the infantry. I’m hoping that
Ebob will be able to work on these whilst the puppets are being cast, but that
depends on what else he has to do, as you can imagine he is a busy guy.
I’m undecided about where to go next , although I’m leaning
towards Guards Infantry because they’ll be a fairly easy conversion to the Line
Infantry masters and because, let’s be honest, bearskins are cool…
Then it’s either cavalry or artillery. Ebob does superb
horses, so I may go that way initially – let me know if you have any
preferences!
I’ll try not to leave it so long before the next update!
